In 2010 my husband and I, along with our three children, moved to Galatea! We moved to the family farm. Soon after our arrival, I began teaching at Galatea school.
Year after year, my teaching role increased as my children grew older. When the opportunity came to lead this fantastic school, I jumped at the opportunity.
Why do I love being the Principal at Galatea School?
I love providing our local children with a safe, fun and motivating environment to learn in.
I want our school graduates to leave Galatea School with happy schooling memories, ready to contribute as a positive and informed citizen.
My name is Kelly Bicknell and I am principal of Galatea School, a wonderful rural nestled under the Te Urewera Ranges.
I believe that our students deserve to have as many learning opportunities and experiences as possible.
I also believe that our students benefit from the environment that a rural school provides.
My love of children has meant I work alongside so many other like-minded people, all wanting the best for each individual child.
We foster children’s love of learning, their curiosity, their sense of fun and their understanding of our school values every day with kindness, compassion and understanding.
I thank parents, caregivers and whanau for sharing their most precious treasures/taonga with us each and every school day.
